Things
broken Men
breaking young Boys
for they remember
pains of their own
“i made it” you said
and in our own head
we say
“i am OK”
and to you that validates
your experience
yet the cycle endures
for sure this equivocates
to
broken
families
communities
nations
our world
and our spirits
and though we do hear it
the calling to heal
we repeal
our higher conscious
for the world of things
sings
like the Siren of the Seas
“what about me?”
and the pleas
of need
from these children
the men of our tomorrows
who embrace sorrows
they do not understand
as does the man
of this day
the venue is doomed
to continue
though the cycle can be broken
someone must make
the token gesture
and take the pedals off
remove the wheels
that call themselves progress
for we have regressed
digressed
and must divest
our lives of the values
we and our ancestors so cherished
things
