in reverent witness
i stand in reverent witness
of the juxtaposition of Nature
and Mother demonstrates her command of time
the Mountain side Canvass is being cleansed
of the remnant of the Winter
that stands in passing
a certain unsurety of movement
and stillness
converging with it’s own obstinateness
The Clouds part
to reveal more of the Sun
as it rallies to the cause
and Mother begins to bare
her palette of colors
of the Spring
and the promise
of Her newest Masterpiece to come
though the sleeping Old Man of Winter is reluctant
He knows His time is short
but in the most valiant of rebukedness
he spurts forth his defiance
with a feathery Snow
that runs away as soon as it comes
and He lets us all know
that he is not yet done
though He understands the rule of life
and in his most regal stance
He does not fight the fight He can not win
for the Winds that were once His closest allies
now betray His errant purpose
for even Brother Wind knows
that as the Seasons goes
He too must adjust
yes He must now serve
to bring forth the gentle warm breeze
and nurture the Lands
and the Trees
as the Old Man Winter drops
to his knees
uttering his feeble pleas
of forgiveness
to Mother
Mother smiles
and bring forth the Bud
from the Seeds sown
for this very need
and the grounds begin to thaw
and the moisture from the melting snow
begins to flow
to form the rivulets
and the Springs
to feed the streams
this coming Spring
and the thing is
we all are fed
in this reverent witness of wonder
as the things thought dead
are resurrected
again this spring to come
and we all begin to sing
of the coming Spring
deep within our own Souls
for the Children of Life
will soon dance to the rife
of the Flowers
the butterflies
and our eye will behold
The bright Sun of year old
again embrace us
in the fields of glory
and my friend
this is the story of our life
as we stand
in reverent witness
