innocence
snakes, demons
and cross eyed angels
were having a party
in my head
dancing with vulgar undulations
whispering lustful incantations
while enticing
my passion
to rise up
and smite my convictions
i was beginning to swoon
the tune of the sons
ushered forth a longing
i have not visited upon
in many a year
and a tear graced my cheek
as i remembered
a time
when the holiness
was not a consideration
for i was
so much freer then
than now
and now
after many years
of careful measured steps
i seek a liberation
from the cloak of bondage
wisdom says she provides
i feel that much more
encumbered
by the rules
i used to mock
and now i endorse them
oh woe the passing
of our youth
and the crucifying
of our innocence
