~ Bridges of Faith ~

Have you ever crossed a bridge?

Of course you have! We all have at some or many times in our lives.

What is a Bridge ?

I know . . . stupid question. A Bridge is a fixture that connects two places together . . . correct ? Why do we need Bridges ? I know, another stupid question. Well, the purpose of the Bridge is to make the journey between these two points less difficult and sometimes more direct ! And of course at times Bridges are erected to control the flow of traffic and at times for the sake of collecting Tolls. Now, that may seem funny to some, but I assure you in some instances this is true !

So, now that the intro is complete, let us get to the crux of the topic . . .

“Bridges of Faith”

 

I wish to start by having each of us to stop and reflect on some of the Bridges we have crossed. Let us examine the ones we have crossed in our cars or by other means of transportation.

. . . . Done ?

When was the last time we had reservations, or no Faith in the Bridge? When was the last, or first time we inspected the Bridge for safety or inquired so before we went across it ? I know this may sound far fetched to most of us, but we just don’t do such things . . . do we ? Why ? Because we have “Trust” and “Blind Faith” in it’s structure. Not only the structure do we “Trust”, but we have “Faith” that we will arrive safely on the other side. I know, I know there are those of us to whom this does not apply, because of certain types of Psychological Imbalances. But, for the most of us, this premise is true!

If we really want to be finite about in our examination of each Bridge, there are numerous factors that are involved with the Bridge being there for our use. . . . Materials and their Physical Integrity, Design Integrity, Construction, Personnel, and many Sub Factors in each of those categories that affect the overall product . . . the Bridge! A “Bridge of Faith” that will safely convey us from point “A” to point “B”.

But, we go across Bridges without a thought about any of this . . .

Why ? . . .

Faith!

Now that we got that out of the way, we have determined that truly we can classify our local Road and River Bridges as “Bridges of Faith”

But in life there are many types of Bridges. There is the Bridges within our mind. These Bridges connect the various aspects of “Mind”. These Bridges allow our Supra Consciousness and Sub Consciousness Mind to connect and traffic back and forth to our Consciousness in the “Here and Now”! That is a topic for another time . . . besides, there are many more worthy than I with more resources about this subject matter. (Buddhism)

I want to stick to the “Bridge of Faith”. You see, many times in life we get stuck at a place. Our own “Life Traffic” has come to a standstill . We don’t know how we are going to make it . . .get from Point “A” to Point “B”.

Well, I will make this short ! If we can trust the works and ways of “Man” in crossing his Bridge with “Faith” . . . WHY CAN WE NOT HAVE THE SAME UNQUESTIONABLE “Faith” in God ? . . . After all it was God who created the man who designed and built the “Bridge” !

Analogy :

If I went to a Baker and purchased the most beautiful cake you have ever seen or tasted ... would I Glorify or Praise the Cake ? . . . . or the hand that made it ?

So, I conclude in this manner . . .

Let us examine the “Bridges” in our lives more closely . . . and in doing so, perhaps we will find need to reconstruct our “Bridge of Faith” based on the Hand that makes ALL things possible !
