Graviola . . . the Fruit and your Health . . .

Graviola is a small tree, native to tropical areas, including the Amazon. Its fruit is sold in markets
location in the tropics, where it is called soursop
and soursop. The fruit pulp is excellent for making drinks
cream and although it is slightly acidic, can be eaten
hand.

In the Peruvian Amazon the bark, roots and leaves are used for diabetes and as a sedative and antispasmodic. Indian Tribes
in Guyana use a leaf tea and / or bark as a sedative
and cardiac tonic. In the Brazilian Amazon
leaf tea is used for kidney problems,
and oil from leaves and unripe fruit is mixed with oil
oil and used externally for neuralgia, rheumatism
and arthritis pain. In Jamaica, Haiti and India
Western fruit and / or fruit juice is used for fever,
parasites and diarrhea, the leaf or bark is used as
an antispasmodic, sedative, and for the nervous system
for heart disease, cough, flu, difficult births,
hypertension, asthma and parasites.

Studies and plant components
Many active compounds and chemicals found in graviola, as scientists have been studying
properties since the early 40's. Most
research on Graviola focuses on a novel
Annonaceous set of chemicals called acetogenins. Graviola
produces these natural compounds in their leaves, stems, bark
fruit and seeds. Three different research groups
confirmed that these chemicals have significant properties
antitumor and selective toxicity against various types of cells
cancer (without harming healthy cells)
publishing eight clinical studies on its results.

Many of the acetogenins have demonstrated selective toxicity to tumor cells at very low dose - less than 1 part per million.
Four studies published in 1998, which specified below
chemicals and acetogenins in graviola which are
showing stronger properties such as anticancer
antitumor and antiviral.

The mode of action studies in three different laboratories have recently determined that these acetogenins are superb inhibitors
enzymatic processes that are found only in
membranes of cancerous tumor cells. This is
that are toxic to cancer cells but have no
toxicity to healthy cells. Purdue University
West Lafayette, Indiana, has conducted research too
of acetogenins, many of which were funded by
The National Cancer Institute and National Institute
Health (NIH). So far, Purdue University concluded
at least nine patents for his work on the properties
Antitumor and insecticides and use of acetogenins.

In 1997, he released the information that many promising developments of Annonaceous acetogenins were "... Not just
effective in killing tumors that had shown resistance
anticancer agents, but also seem
have a special affinity for such resistant cells. "
In interviews after he was released this
information, the pharmacist at the forefront of research
Purdue explained how it works. As he
says, cancer cells that survive
chemotherapy may develop resistance to the agent originally
used as well as other drugs, or not
related. This phenomenon is called multidrug resistance
(MDR). One of the many ways in which cells
develop resistance to drugs against cancer
Chemotherapy is the creation of an intercellular pump which is capable of
pushing anticancer agents out of the cell
before they can kill you. On average, only about 2%
cancer cells in any person can
develop this pump - but they are the 2% that can
grow and expand and develop the resistant tumors
multi-drug. Some of the latest polls
on acetogenins reported that they were able to close
intercellular, so this pumping kill these resistant tumors
multi-drug. Purdue researchers reported that
acetogenins preferentially killed the cancer cells
resistant to multiple drugs block the transfer of ATP
- The main source of cellular energy -
them. A tumor cell needs energy to
grow and reproduce, and much more to realize the
pump and expel attacking agents. By inhibiting energy
the cell can no longer pump. When
acetogenins block ATP to the tumor cell with
time, the cell no longer has enough energy
processes to operate substantial - and dies. Cells
rarely develop as normal pumping and therefore do not require
large amounts of energy for pumping and
usually not affected by inhibitors
ATP. Purdue researchers reported that 14 different
acetogenins tested thus far demonstrate potent properties
Blockade of ATP (including many that are just
graviola). They also reported that 13 of these
14 acetogenins tested were more potent against cells
MDR breast cancer that all three standard drugs
(Adriamycin, vincristine and vinblastine) used as control.

Current uses
The therapeutic dosage of graviola leaf (which offers such a high amount of acetogenins as the root and almost as much as the seed *) reports
which is 2-3 grams taken 3 or 4 times a day. Products
graviola (capsules and tinctures) are becoming
more widely available. As one of the mechanisms
action of graviola is running out of energy
ATP to cancer cells, combining
with other supplements and natural products that increase or improve
Cellular ATP may reduce the effect of graviola. The main
supplement that increases the ATP is a common antioxidant
called coenzyme Q10, and therefore should be avoided
when taking graviola.
* Different chemical alkaloids in the seeds and roots
neurotoxic effects have shown some preliminary
in vitro. Therefore, not recommended for consumption only
your sheet.

Conclusion
Graviola is certainly a promising natural remedy and that again emphasizes the importance of preserving our ecosystems
remaining tropical. Maybe - if enough
Many people believe that a possible cure for cancer
really is within a tropical plant -
we will take steps to protect our forests
remnants of the destruction.

A researcher studying graviola summarized this
idea eloquently: "At the time of preparation
ongoing review, over 350 Annonaceous acetogenins
were isolated from 37 species. Our preliminary efforts
show that about 50%, more than 80 species of
Annonaceous scheduled, are significantly bioactive and
worthy of fractionation, so this class of compounds
Expected to continue to grow at an exponential rate
in the future, provided that such financial support for such efforts
Research can be found. With the disappearance of
world's tropical forests, this work is a duty before
that the chemical diversity contained in those species
endangered species, is lost. "

The plant described here is not intended to treat, cure, diagnose
mitigate or prevent any disease.

Knew
that ...
The leaves and stem of Graviola are those
filed suit active against cancer cells
without affecting the body.
Although research confirms that these acetogenins
antitumor also appear in high quantities in
seeds of fruit (not in the flesh) and roots
graviola, different alkaloid chemicals in the seeds
and roots have shown some preliminary neurotoxic effects.
Therefore, the use of seeds and roots of graviola
is not recommended.
