The Dark





Darkness fears not the Light
for it shall come and go again
for darkness knows the rules
on which it can depend

in our life of knowing not
darkness holds our fears
by time we do embrace the light
darkness reappears

darkness has many friends
though they know it not
believing life is conquered
because of what they got

then there are those who preach
and teach an errant word
believing truth just to be
something that they heard

there is not much we don’t know
yet let the truth be known
we are but Creation where
in darkness light was sown

for dark and light do coexist
that’s the Sacred Rule
to try to change what one cannot
makes us but the fool

light is time to get work done
dark is but for rest
that we may be replenished
and ‘morrow give our best

for light is but a gift to us
make sure you use it well
it is more than metaphor
for our Heaven and our Hell
