sing loudly

sing loudly

the heavenly chorus
had no robes on
they were singing
naked
i peered
i stared
and i realized
they looked like me
looked like you
naked
save but their vanity

our bodies become our prisons
of passions
of avarice
of death
and we suffer it for
a little while

some have style to their woe
some don’t know
what the hell to do
so we create mental vistas
that we may escape
to heaven
and sing in that choir

sing
sing loudly
and drown out your reason
sing loudly
