the sound of listening

the sound of listening

i withdrew to a quiet place
that i may listen to the stillness
i began to let go
and will less

i heard my breath
and i rendered it quiet
as i did as well to my heart
in my seeking of that place
with no sound

then there was the sound of Mother Breathing
and again i commanded quiet
and within this sphere of my nothingness
the riot began
i could hear the guttural utterances of the moon
and soon i mastered my peace upon it
and again
there was quiet

i then heard this wonderful symphony
playing for me
as the twinkling Soul Stars glistened
and i listened
as the sang concordantly
a song i have never heard before
but i had to close that door
for what i south i thought was quiet
and everything upon this journey
defied it

and deep within the recesses of this room of Self
i now felt isolated
and all the noises dissipated
into some unknown abysmal void
and with my will deployed
i had arrived . . . i thought
to that place i sought
quiet

there was an absence of voices
except this one
this one
who spoke these words i now write
and in the twilight of this night
i finally understood
the rule
in spite of my defiance
there is a sound in silence
the sound of listening
