Melanie L. Carter: mother, daughter, sister, grand daughter and niece. But when she grabs her poetry pen or when she stands before a mic, she becomes Melanie "YeYo" Carter: A poet, Spoken Word artist, and  writer.
She was born and raised in a small town called Jesup, GA. A place where every one knows everybody. Most people would call this place
"country". Well, whatever the common term for it may be, she knew very early in life that her mind, heart, spirit and soul were much too big for that place.
YeYo has been an avid reader all of her literate life. Novels and words always had the power to take her places: from wild adventurous places to lover's lane. Then, one day, while she was in the 5th grade, she picked up a pen because her heart told her she had something to say. That day was the beginning of a love affair like no other. A love affair between YeYo...and her pen.
